Hose assembly eliminates hazards
Smart-Hose
Safety Systems from Smart-Hose Technologies (www.smarthose.com)
automatically shuts off the flow of gases or fluids in both
directions when a hose failure takes place. The system has a coated
cable that is connected inside the hose bore to the valve plungers,
wedges or flappers at the hose end points. This cable acts as a
compression spring, and holds valves open when conditions are
normal. When thrust is eliminated for any reason, such as the
ejection of a coupling, or the stretching of a hose to an unsafe
condition or the separation of a hose, the valves seat themselves
and stop the flow of gas or liquid in either direction.
