Matheson Tri-Gas's parent acquires Linde and BOC helium assets
Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corp. (www.tn-sanso.co.jp/en/) acquired global helium assets from Linde AG (www.linde.com) and The BOC Group plc (www.boc.com). Those assets include long-term helium supply contracts with sources in the United States, Poland and Russia; and two transfill locations in the United States. Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corp.'s U.S. subsidiary, Matheson Tri-Gas Inc., will manage the acquired helium business under the name Matheson Tri-Gas Global Helium.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has approved the transaction as part of its September 5 consent degree. The European Commission approved the transaction on September 12th.
"This acquisition is consistent with Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corp.'s focused strategy to expand our global presence and grow our business through strategic new products and services," Hirosuke Matsueda, president of Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corp, said in a prepared statement.
