Scott Specialty Gases increases prices for gases and cylinders
Scott Specialty Gases (www.scottgas.com) announced in late May that it would implement a percentage price increase, effective June 1 for all of its specialty pure gases and gaseous mixtures.
The company said prices for its helium and argon-based mixtures and helium and argon pure gases would increase 10 percent. Methane-based mixtures and methane pure gases would increase by 7.5 percent. Prices for all other specialty pure gases and gas mixtures increased by 5 percent.
In addition, Scott's high-pressure cylinder rental increased to 32 cents per day.
The company cited escalating costs for energy and quality raw materials as reasons for the increases.
Scott Specialty Gases develops and supplies high performance specialty gases, and is the largest producer of EPA protocol gases and the singlesource producer of gaseous Standard Reference Material candidates (SRMs) for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Scott products include pure and mixed gases for environmental, industrial, laboratory, scientific, homeland security, medical and semiconductor manufacturing applications.
Separately, Scott Specialty Gases has been named recipient of the Compressed Gas Association's Fleet Safety Award for 2006.
