Air Products Delivering Over-The-Fence Gas Supplies in the Middle East

Air Products (www.airproducts.com) said in late January it was planning to ship a cold box for an air separation unit to Abu Dhabi at the end of February for an air separation unit and a hydrogen production facility that would provide industrial gases to the Emirates Float Glass Company in Abu Dhabi.

Air Products said the air separation unit and gas production facility would be the first over-the-fence gas supply in the industrial city of Abu Dhabi, and one of the first in the Middle East.

The shipment is the main part of a project undertaken by a joint venture between the Abdullah Hashim Group and Air Products for the building and operation of the air separation and hydrogen production facility.

The cold box is the core element of an air separation unit and enables air to be cooled so that it can be separated into different gases. It and other cryogenic equipment were manufactured at Air Products’ facility in Acrefair, North Wales, UK.

Air Products has operated a helium and cylinder gases filling and distribution facility in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in United Arab Emirates since 1990, and said it strengthened its presence in the Middle East when it opened an office in Doha, Qatar last year.
